Shut Up and Post!
As the Dixie Chicks documentary ‘Shut Up and Sing!’ came to European theaters only recently, the US audience is way ahead in the discussion about it. I watched it the other day and I’m still not sure about what to think about this.
Are they the heroines as which many people see them? Certainly not. Are they politicly conscious at all? Maybe now they are. But they seemed not to have been back then.
The documentary shows the Dixie Chicks on the night of the incident as well as in the time thereafter, their reactions to the public disapproval and the ongoing of their career in music. At many times it feels a bit to intimate to have been filmed in an authentic situation.
I hope some more people have seen or know more about it and will help to light up this darkness. Please discuss!

I don’t want to say that they hadn’t a hard time defending their opinion. But still they keep beeing so unreflectedly patriotic. And also Bush is not really from Texas…

Aren’t they just cashing in on understanding Bush earlier than the average Texan? It’s a bit like “See? We told you so! But you did not want to listen…!” Who produced the movie? An indepedent or someone from their circle?
Still, respect for speaking out and not backing up.
