Brad Pitt's character name is "Aldo Raine?" As in Aldo Ray? Looks like a remake of the old biker gang in Vietnam film The Losers! I think Mr Tarantino is running out of ideas to crib.

It seems that the movie title is a reference to the 1970s Italian war movie "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inglorious_Bastards" rel="nofollow">Inglorious Bastards</a>," which is about five GIs on a mission behind enemy lines in Nazi Germany. Apparently, Italians are better at English spelling.
Maybe they don't own they rights to the title? Could also be a wordplay that you only understand after watching the movie. In this case: clever marketing!

is it just me or is "inglourious" misspelled? that's weird...
apart from that, yeah, the hollywood nazi really is the ultimate villian, especially because it's so convenient: you don't have to worry about a multi-faceted character or tell a story of how this person became an evil monster (or, as in Stauffenberg's case, they never bothered to tell the story of how a Nazi supporter turned into Hitler's almost assassin)
Therefore, I'm not really into this new type of Nazi movies - but maybe Germans find it hard to look at any type of World War 2 movie as "entertainment". We want historical accuracy!
